Yes! It’s that time again, already. Another week of writing… or not, as the case may be.
But before we get to that, I just wanted to give a grateful shout out to Irish Comic News who gave my forthcoming issue of Jennifer Wilde (with truly breathtaking art by Stephen Downey) a wonderful review. My first review for my first ever (print) comic book – and it’s a good one! *pleased face*
You can read the whole thing here, but one of my favourite quotes:
Mahoney gives the story extra pathos by using the real life experiences of Oscar Wilde to connect him closely to plot. There is a lovely use of works by Yeats and Wilde that add an extra depth. I found the poem by Wilde even more touching after reading the story. All this and you’d be forgiven for being surprised that this is Karen Mahoney’s first comic book outing.
Okay, enough self-congratulation.
Onto the check in! We’re halfway through August, which means we’re halfway through KazNo. How are you getting on? I’m not where I should be according to my goal, but I’m pleased considering that I didn’t write much at all in the first week. This second week has been better – although I did lose all of yesterday to a Migraine of Doom(tm). My current total is 8,500 words. I need to step it up for next week.
Let us know in comments how you’re doing, even if you’re struggling. We can cheer each other on!
