5 things on a Monday

1. Smuggled!
Don’t forget to enter The Book Smugglers’ giveaway for The Wood Queen. You can choose whichever edition you like best, if you win. (You can also ask me for a copy of The Iron Witch instead, that’s fine.)

ETA: There is also a giveaway for TWQ at All Things Urban Fantasy!

2. Shame.
I actually went to the cinema for the first time in months a while back. Saw Shame, which is every bit as awesome as I expected it to be. Fassbender and Mulligan were incredible. The whole movie was jaw-droppingly good, partly thanks to the central performances of course, but it’s all pulled together by Steve McQueen‘s brilliant direction. You need to see this film!

3. Fangs.
Did you watch The Vampire Diaries last week? I simply cannot wait for this week’s episode! A ball in Mystic Falls? What could possibly go wrong… 😉

4. More fangs.
I’m revising Moth’s book, Falling to Ash (again), and am hoping to get this puppy into shape for Editor Jess within the next couple of weeks. It’s a busy time, but I’m trying to keep focused and take breaks where I can, because…

5. Ugh.
Migraines. Yeah, I’ve been getting more and more of the stupid things, lately. So many, in fact, that I am now classed as a ‘chronic’ migraine sufferer (which sounds fancy). This is cutting into my ability to do my work and keep up with the many online (and offline) promotional stuff I also need to participate in. Something’s gotta give, and right now I’m not quite sure what it will be. I apologise if I still owe you something in the mail – I will get it to you, I promise. Unfortunately, when you’re losing 50% of your working hours to migraines and severe headaches, all of my attention has to go on actual writing in the limited time I have left.

Hmm… Didn’t mean to end on a downer! I’ll be back tomorrow/Wednesday with more links to Wood Queen-related goodies.

    Hi Karen,

Really sorry to hear abt your migraines, i used to get lots of them also and found that my neck was out. I went to the osteopath for several treatments and it helped me greatly (I didnt know my neck was out just had the treatment recommended to me and it worked) not sure if you have tried this treatment yet or not.

I am also a HUGE Vampire Diaries fan. Absolutely love the show. Who is your favourite character and why?

    Best Regards,
    Melissa.

  2. Alice says:

Gagh! I hope your migraines go away. 🙁 They’re so awful. It’s a shame that they’re causing you to cut back on your work. I hope you start feeling better sometime soon!

Ahhh. Still waiting for my copy of The Wood Queen to arrive in the mail from Amazon. It’s just not coming fast enough dammit. 😛 I want to reeeeeead it now!

  3. Wendy says:

Oh, I hope the migranes get better. I only get headaches when I’m sick so I have no remedies that might help, sorry =(
Best of luck with Moth’s novel. I seriously can’t wait for it it’s one of my most anticipated books because Moth seems so awesome!
And yeha I watched TVD. Why do they only release a new episode once a week? I can’t get enough of that show! I love it when they have balls because it means that the guys are gonna put on suits/tuxes and look absolutely hot. Not that thay’re not hot wearing something else it’s just that unf, I love me a guy that cleans up nicely, it turns them into off-the-chart the-temperature-of-the-sun hot.

This is getting kind of long… So… ciao, and good luck.

  4. Shanna says:

    Shoo, migraines! Be gone!

Ok, that probably won’t help but I had to say it. Good luck with those, though. Hopefully you’ll be feeling well in no time.
And about TVD… I’m stuck somewhere in season 2. I just don’t have the time to continue watching! Uch.
