YALITCHAT Anthology!

I’m really excited and proud to announce that I’ve been invited to write a story for a charity ebook anthology put together by and on behalf of the YALITCHAT community (of which I am a member). All short stories will be YA dark retellings of Mother Goose rhymes – or nursery rhymes, as we call them in the UK! 😉

The anthology will be released October 2, 2012 in ebook, and will be available in many formats including Kindle, iBook, Nook, etc. ALL proceeds will go to YALITCHAT.ORG through 5,000 copies sold. After those sales have been reached, 10% of proceeds will also be donated to miscellaneous charities as chosen by individual authors.

Editors: Georgia McBride (author & YALITCHAT founder) and awesome authors Cyn Balog & Michelle Zink.

Special guest foreword contributor: Francisco X. Stork <--- So cool! Contributing authors:

UNPUBLISHED author – CONTEST winner will be announced May 2012!

Yes, you read that right! There’s a contest to find the final contributer to the anthology. All details, contest rules and link to the entry form are here. Closing date is the end of February 2012.

Oh, and what will my story be about? (I hear you ask…)

I’ve chosen ‘One for Sorrow’ and have already written the first half. It is both wonderful and challenging to have an opportunity to write a story that has nothing to do with any of my novels or previous ideas. This is something fresh and new for me; a dark tale that takes the nursery rhyme/folklore around One for Sorrow as its basis, but then spins it into something contemporary, magical and romantic. Um… well, that’s what I’m going for, anyway. 🙂

More news when I have it and, in the meantime, go enter the writing contest!

That sounds really interesting! I’ve never heard of Mother Goose / nursery rhymes here I think… or maybe I’m just not yet awake enough to remember. Anyhow; I’m curious to find out how you wrote it into your story. Good luck writing it!
