The Wood Queen ~ Final UK Cover Art

So, the lovely people at Random House UK went back and forth between a few different versions of the cover art they wanted for The Wood Queen, and here is what we have decided on:

I’m so happy with it, and I think it looks beautiful next to the UK edition of The Iron Witch. This new cover will also have foil in the UK (silver this time!) and I can’t wait to see the finished book. 🙂

This means that TWQ actually has a different cover for each of its US, UK and Australian editions (shown in that order below):

Which one do you like best?

  1. God, this is a hard pick! They’re all completely gorgeous! But I like how the US/UK ones go on with the ‘theme’ of not showing her face. The UK one is very different from the others though, in my opinion. The US and AUS ones show her in a very serene way, somehow at ease with her surroundings, while the UK cover emphasizes the darker/troubled aspect.

  4. They’re all absolutely stunning but I do love love LOVE the US version the best.. Which is why I’ll be buying it from Flux like I did TIW 😉
I don’t usually like covers that show faces (even though my first did.. But that’s coz the guy was HOT) so the Oz one is my least fave..

  5. They’re all pretty, lucky Kaz! 😀 I’m torn between UK and Aus for my favourite though. The UK one for sense of mood (and the fonts/typography), Aus because… well, once I look at it, it’s hard to look away. 😉 (And the dress! I want.)

  6. Oh my God!! It’s so beautiful, Kaz! I love it!!! 😀

I might be tempted to order this off of the Book Depository when it comes out, instead of getting the US edition, because, much as I think our edition is very pretty, those other two are just GORGEOUS. I think the Australian cover is very beautiful and dreamy, but the UK cover definitely captures the emotion of the story better and is a lot more… dynamic. *scrolls up to stare at the cover*

Wow, I just love it. The border, her hair, her tattoos… everything! Congratulations, Kaz! I can’t wait to see this out in print. 🙂

  7. Oooh, so pretty. I love the similarity to pose (evoking tension, anxiety, grief, sorrow) on TIW covers. Both the UK and US covers are gorgeous (the Aussie one is too, but I prefer the others), but with the UK version, you get the feeling Dona’s story isn’t finished and she still has so much to do. She is SUFFERING.

OTOH, the US version shows her in action, in a position of strength, indicating she is growing into herself.

Ack, choices! I want to pet them both. 🙂

  9. It’s beautiful ! (Now I’m asking myself why I have the American edition of the Iron Witch…)

  11. I can’t decide! I definitely prefer the US and UK one to the Australian, but there’s such a different feel between them. The US makes Donna look powerful, whilst the UK one evokes despair.
If pushed I would go with the UK one, as its “ours”, and her tattoos are more prominent!

  14. And I thought the US cover was beautiful.

I just ADORE the UK cover! I’m so glad I live in the UK! (Although my parents don’t even buy books – even having a library book that pretty is good enough :D)

  15. I like the Australian cover best; then the UK, with the US in last place.

  16. I love how all the covers still prominently show her tattoos. The UK cover makes Donna look like she is in pain..or angsty. I think I prefer the U.S. cover best although they are all gorgeous! I’m telling you I would be sooo jealous of your awesome covers if I was an author (but also happy for you 🙂
