Random stuff & linkage

Busy weekend, birthdays and family stuff and other things (though Mum’s birthday meal was lots of fun). This coming week is a week for getting my head down and working. Lots of things to do to catch up. In the meantime…

Re. Bookplates:

Again, sorry for the long wait for a handful of people. I ran out – again! I’ve finally invested in some slightly less homemade bookplates, so the next batch I send out in the coming days will be from those. Probably I’ll retire my ‘homemade’ version, even though I’m kinda fond of them. 😉

I have a Tumblr now, although I haven’t done an awful lot with it yet:

Wonder Kaz Seeks Invisible Jet

Add me, if you’re the ‘tumbling’ kind!

The always wonderful Jonathan Carroll passed this Tumblr link onto me, and it’s fast becoming one of my favourite things to check out each day:

Writing Advice

I especially love this recent article: ‘Principles of a Story’ by Raymond Carver. Well worth a read.

Here are a couple of Kickstarter (I love Kickstarter!) projects I’ve pledged to support. Take a look, they both have some great incentives – plus you’ll have the happy-making feeling that you contributed to the production of new graphic novels. They have both hit their target (in record time!), but remain open for donations a little longer – this would mean increased print runs and other benefits:

Jimmy Palmiotti’s QUEEN CRAB

Currently reading:

So many things… Too much to really go into major detail right now (no time!), but I recently finished this:

The Dark Tower 1: The Gunslinger (Stephen King)

I enjoyed it, but I get the feeling I will like Book 2 more – so I have that sitting ready and waiting. 🙂

And I just started this beautifully-written debut novel, and am already totally sucked in:

Luminous (Dawn Metcalf)

Aww, thanks so much for supporting WOMANTHOLOGY. My friend Jean is a working on some of the comics in, I’m so proud of her (:

I’ve been keeping an eye on WOMANTHOLOGY for a while – very cool to see it doing so well! Great news about your friend being part of it, too. 🙂

  2. The second Dark Tower book is 10x more action packed than the first one, and it reads a lot more urban. I finished it a couple months ago, and I’m ready for the third. I think it’s a really great series so far!
